Heating Boilers / Storage Water Heaters A typical school will have two or more boilers for heat and hot water. Boilers require careful operation and maintenance and include mechanical and electrical controls. Most boiler and water heater system breakdowns are caused by overheating due to loss of boiler water and/or excessive scale buildup - both in the boiler and in control devices.
