Electrical Distribution System

Retail stores, whether they are building owners or tenants typically have a variety of electrical distribution equipment such as electrical distribution panels. The electrical equipment for a self-standing store with its own building is naturally more extensive and presents greater exposure. Still, even a retail tenant in a shopping center will have an electrical panel. Electrical equipment is most often damaged through overloading and/or electrical insulation failure, resulting in shorting out of wiring or bus structures. Poor housekeeping and lack of maintenance also may lead to loosening and overheating of connections. A shorted electrical circuit will not only damage the electrical system, but will also cause the electrical service to be interrupted to all areas on the circuit and may result in a business interruption.
