Electrical Distribution System

Restaurants usually include a variety of electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers and electrical distribution panels. In restaurants, electrical equipment is most often damaged through overloading and/or electrical insulation failure, resulting in shorting out of wiring or bus structures. Poor housekeeping and lack of maintenance also may lead to loosening and overheating of connections. A shorted electrical circuit will not only damage the electrical system, but will also cause the electrical service to be interrupted to all areas on the circuit and may result in a business interruption. Rotating electrical equipment, such as ventilation fan motors and pump motors can be damaged by electrical power disturbances such as surges, spikes, and "brown outs".
