High-tech cooking solutions are the rage in many franchise operations in the restaurant industry. In order to manage labor costs and increase productivity at peak hours some restaurants use computer controlled broilers and other cooking equipment. The electronic components of this equipment are low voltage circuitry that can be damaged by power surges and other electrical disturbances. A breakdown in cooking equipment can obviously lead to a business interruption. Local repair services may not have spare electronic components or experience dealing with this equipment which can delay restoration of operations.
