Boilers

Boilers at hospitals serve the following purposes: heating, humidification, hot water supply and sterilization. Comfort heat is usually supplied by large central low pressure heating boilers and hot water needs are met by large water heater systems. Though most hospitals and medical centers have excess comfort and water heating capacity, the equipment used is larger and more expensive to repair or replace. High-pressure steam equipment may also be used in the hospital kitchen for cooking or in operating rooms or central supply for sterilization. (see also Autoclaves)
