Equipment Exposures

Hospitals and Medical Centers

Hospitals and medical centers present a wide range of complex equipment exposures. This includes heating and air conditioning equipment, electrical systems, medical diagnostic equipment, medical air and other life support systems for patients, large pumps for fire protection and water supply and complete cafeteria and patient food catering facilities. Many hospitals also run industrial type laundry facilities that includes large boilers and numerous machines. Institutions without backups for mission critical equipment such as boilers, electrical systems, air conditioning and air handling present a greater extra expense exposure should temporary equipment need to be rented to restore vital services. Most hospitals were built 50 or more years ago and have expanded over the years by building additions and remodeling. As a result, the electrical infrastructure of hospitals may be taxed.
