Electrical System Electrical panels, transformers, switchgear, cables and other equipment are all interconnected. All it takes is a loose connection, moisture, or a little dust or dirt, and the whole system is at risk. Unfortunately, electrical systems are usually not properly maintained. The frequent cycling on and off of electrical loads creates heating and cooling that can loosen connections and cause electrical arcing, or short circuits.
