Variable Speed Drive Calculators for Fans

It is standard engineering practice to oversize fan capacities by at least 10% to accommodate unknown installation configurations. The over-capacity of a fan increases electrical operating costs. For example, a 10-horsepower fan reduced in speed by 10% will only use seven horsepower, or 30% less power.
