Theodore D. Kmiecik

Senior Vice President and Comptroller, HSB Group, Inc.

Theodore (Ted) Kmiecik is senior vice president and comptroller for HSB Group, Inc., the parent company for The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB), responsible for internal and external reporting of financial, statutory and tax information.  He has held this position since 1999.

Mr. Kmiecik began his career with HSB as director of financial analysis in the commercial division of HSB in 1996.  In 1998, he was promoted to insurance division controller responsible for monthly financial reporting, planning and analysis within the division.

Prior to joining HSB, Mr. Kmiecik was chief financial officer for Bernie’s TV and Appliance in Enfield, Conn.  In this capacity, he was responsible for financial accounting and reporting for this regional consumer electronics and appliance retailer.  He held this position from 1995 to 1996.  From 1993 to 1995, Mr. Kmiecik was chief financial officer for Sound Playground, a company that was subsequently acquired by Bernie’s.

Mr. Kmiecik began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, formerly Coopers & Lybrand, in Springfield, MA where he was a senior audit manager.  He provided audit and special services to a variety of public and private companies in several industries, including financial services, retail, manufacturing and health care.

Mr. Kmiecik holds a bachelor’s of science in business administration degree with a major in accounting from Western New England College.  He is a Certified Public Accountant.  He also serves on the finance committee for the Center for Human Development, an organization that he has served for over 25 years.
